The Vital Task of Regional Ordination Committees

In our polity, the regional ordination committees play a vital role in guarding and strengthening the health of our movement. Ordained elders exercise a governing function in our regional assemblies and in our council of elders. Even more importantly, these men shepherd and care for the flock of God in each of our churches. There could be no more important task than ensuring that biblically qualified men occupy these offices. And our ROCs partner with the local churches and elders of their region to help prepare and test men for this calling.

The Role of the Theology Committee

The Theology Committee is tasked by our BCO with maintaining our Sovereign Grace Ordination Standards (BCO 10.4.1). To that end, the Theology Committee has formed a standing sub-committee to work in partnership with our ROCs to make our ordination process as strong as possible. This committee works closely with our ROCs to improve our exams and our ordination process.

On this page there are links to Canvas, where the most recent versions of all private ROC documents can be found, including both ROC training resources as well as the actual exams. In addition, the Ordination Guide is also linked below. This document summarizes the entire process of ordination within Sovereign Grace and is available to all eldership or potential ordination candidates.
